Design Concept:

The Antarctica comes with a 3D optimized heatsink that offers best-in-class thermal performance. The engineers of GELID Solutions especially designed a set of 5 power heat pipes, aluminum fins with improved profiling and an additional smaller heatsink with a copper core. These elements provide exceptional heat transfer from the CPU to the heatsink. Both heatsinks were created using precise software simulation and calculation during the development stage to ensure efficient air flow distribution at the lowest fan speed possible. The result, the Antarctica fully supports heat transfer of TDP 220W being paired with even very low-speed, virtually noiseless fans.

A silent 140mm fan with the intelligent GELID PWM (Pulse Width Module) control compliments the heatsink. The fan blades are optimized to deliver high air flow at low speed, and the newly designed PWM IC eliminates any clicking noise. The intelligent GELID PWM curve operates the fan in an extended speed range of 450 RPM to 1500 RPM, it constantly keeps the fan silent but accelerates speed whenever additional cooling is needed. With 2 sets of fan mounts, a second fan can be installed to improve the cooler’s outstanding performance even further. Additionally, the multi-award winning high performance GC-Extreme thermal compound is already included in the package.

The cooler is RoHS and WEEE conform and carries a 5 year warranty.

March / 2016: PCMHZ:
"GELID Antarctica may not be the most beautiful and eye-catching CPU cooler but do not let appearances conceal thermal and acoustic performance, those are well beyond mainstream and touch premium range."
March / 2016: The

It’s not very often we see a Gelid cooler out in the wild and the Antarctica does a pretty good job, It has a great shape, the colour scheme isn’t out there, is quiet and performs quite well considering it’s price point plus it comes with one of the best thermal compounds out there right now. A couple of personal niggles would be the packaging and mounting which is a little standard for the former and a little complicated for the latter but all in all that doesn’t take away from this cooler being what it is: A great mid-range air cooler and as such I’m pleased to award the Gelid Antarctica The Game Technician Recommended Gold Award

“Ultimately, the Gelid Antarctica heatsink is an overall good heatsink for the Intel LGA115x and AMD processor platforms.”

January / 2016:

December / 2015:

"The cooling performance of the Gelid Antarctica are as good as those of the Scythe Mugen 4 PCGH Edition, we awarded an Excellent Award. Antarctica does have a higher maximum noise than the Mugen 4, so if you're willing to sacrifice silence for better cooling, you'll be at this cooler at least the option. Previously we tested coolers that yielded even better cooling performance, as the Scythe Fuma. However, the difference in cooling performance is small, while the Fuma both a few euros more expensive as a lot thicker, while the Antarctic weather is higher. This has the advantage that it can be used than with memory has a higher profile. On the other hand you could take and closet where not too high in cooler weather than can fit rather opt for a lower cooler. Both are in any case excellent options that are among the best you can buy in their price range."

December / 2015: Overclockers

"Gelid Solutions Ltd managed to produce a really good CPU cooler with a democratic price. Antarctica combines all the qualities necessary for a modern system of cooling - quiet, performance, nice appearance, easy installation, operation and maintenance, small size and good compatibility with the other components of the motherboard. The disadvantage is perhaps that lack of attachment under the connector Intel LGA2011 included. However, those who really need it will be able to purchase it separately."

"So, what did we think of the Gelid Antarctica CPU Cooler? Well, we haven’t talked about price yet, and it’s a big factor for the Gelid Antarctica. It’s going to be cheap, looking at the rest of the range in the UK, you could guess at a sub £30 mark for this cooler, which would make it excellent value. This is a good cooler and it has potential. If you are looking for a tall, thin heat sink with a large fan, this can be recommended.."

October / 2015: bit-tech

"The Gelid Antarctica is a sucessful, if a little bog-standard, new entry to the cooler market. It offers strong performance that nips at the heels of more expensive all-in-one coolers without making too much noise - you could easily limit the fan speed via PWM or manually to obtain near silence without worrying about temperatures too much, even on an overclocked CPU. It's also got an inoffensive colour scheme and non-intrusive shape; the only dimension you need worry about is the 160mm height, and most cases with tower cooler support will take that. It can also be installed in multiple orientations. We would like to see more attention paid to fan clips (both by Gelid and other cooler companies), but it's not a deal-breaker. Lastly, we'd be wary of using this on an LGA2011 system, but for an LGA115x or pretty much any AMD system, the Antarctica is a great mid-range air cooler."

October / 2015: Rendszerigeny
